The Grand Canyon
The main entrance to the south rim of the Grand Canyon (this is the primary tourism entry) is an hour’s drive or less (53 miles) from the Mountain Star along a very scenic, well-maintained and undivided 2-lane highway. If you are interested, there are two tour companies that will pick you up right from the Mountain Star. They offer both guided van tours and guided walking and hiking tours. I provide their contact information upon your reservation. If you prefer to go it on your own, I provide tips on day hikes as well as directions to a little known and beautiful vista point.
The Mountain Star is a great alternative to staying at the Grand Canyon because it allows you to get away from the crowds and heat (especially during the summer) and provides a serene, alpine escape. The Mountain Star is also ideally located to explore the myriad of other vacation and exploration opportunities in the area and region as well as providing immediate access to the splendid nature of the Coconino National Forest and its many hiking and sight-seeing opportunities. See the Sedona and Oak Creek and Unique Benefits and Location Advantage pages for more information on area opportunities.
